Business Adviser

Prior to joining Elevator, Gordon provided mentoring services on a part-time basis to a wide variety of businesses for nearly 10 years, during which time he was known as Blackmask.

Gordon enjoyed working with primarily smaller companies who found it difficult to position themselves in their marketplace. Generally he offered advice and guidance on sales and marketing activities, led with some assistance in developing a credible web presence at an affordable price.

Gordon's core experience is drawn from his time at Aberdeen-based office equipment sales and supply company, Grampian Business Products. Gordon joined the company in 1981 as their first salesman when the business was just 11 months old and had a long and successful career there. He progressed through sales management to become the Sales Director, heading up a management buyout in 2002 and as the Managing Director negotiated the profitable sale of the company in 2006, just before the economic downturn.

During that 25 year journey, the company grew from 3 employees to a peak of 100. Grampian Business Products was the first company in its industry to attain the requisite BS Standard and Investors in People.

Gordon has been married for over 40 years to the girl he met at school and has 3 grown up sons, 3 grandchildren and a bearded collie called Alfie. He has lived in Cruden Bay since 1983.

Outside family and work, Gordon has a passion for the works of Robert Burns and is well known for his own unique interpretation of Tam O’ Shanter.

In summary, Gordon gained all of his business acumen in the School of Hard Knocks and the University of Life and has developed a highly refined sales and management skill set. This has been developed into one of the masterclass workshops available from Elevator and Business Gateway in Aberdeen City & Shire.

Gordon looks forward to working with you.
