Aberdeen Wellbeing Centre Helps Clients and Fellow Therapists Blossom

The Grampian Business we shine our spotlight on this week has had an exciting journey from renting space in hairdressing salons to establishing its own premises to house its own services, and many other local businesses in the form of a multi discipline wellbeing centre.

Aberdeen Wellbeing Centre, founded by Lynda McIntosh, opened in May this year. The Centre provides a range of services including Children’s Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Reflexology, Energy Healing, and Swedish Back Massage. The Centre prides itself on offering a full range of services from therapies and exercise through to health products. This enables clients to receive an all-inclusive service with Lynda driven to achieve total wellbeing for clients from the inside out.

Lynda said:

“My business is person-centred and has been built with that in mind, focussing on helping customers and clients to meet under one roof and get their needs met.

I personally felt a need for it both as a client – with my own health and wellbeing changes, and as a therapist looking for rental opportunities to practice and promote myself effectively.”

Throughout Lynda’s years of experience, looking for room rentals is something that has always been a big struggle, all while identifying a need for a dedicated all-inclusive service.

Lynda says:

“As a self-employed therapist and yoga teacher I previously rented rooms in hairdressers and beauty salons. I found ‘beauty on the outside’ and ‘health/wellbeing on the inside’ often didn’t mix. I realised there wasn’t anywhere that was completely dedicated to organic, natural, authentic health and wellbeing – from the inside – in Aberdeen.”

Liz Pirrie, Business Gateway adviser said:

“Lynda was driven to succeed in this stage of her business, because rooms to rent for alternative therapists in Aberdeen are few and far between. This facility will benefit a number of our clients by offering somewhere to try it out without having to commit to a long lease.”

Now, with expansion on her mind, Lynda has been working hard to bring in additional therapists offering a wide range of treatments, services and classes on a daily basis. Lynda is also grateful for the help that Business Gateway has provided on her journey in getting her business to where it is now:

“Business Gateway were an invaluable resource to me. Being assigned an adviser who worked with me from the idea stage through to realising the project, I felt more capable and able to access the correct resources at the right time.

My Business Adviser Liz Pirrie also helped me with my Business Plan and worked through the financial figures to make them more realistic for a new business start-up.  There were also a plethora of free courses in marketing, financial advice and IT available, which I was very grateful for.”

Lynda also has her eye on the future of her business and is delighted with the way in which it is going:

“We aim to keep listening to what the customers are looking for, and keep offering them quality and service. More and more diverse therapies and exercise classes are now available and we will continue to expand our Services. Currently we have new classes and therapists joining us every week.”
