Elevator has signed a new sponsorship agreement with Maucher Jenkins, a leading full-service intellectual property (IP) firm with offices in Edinburgh, London, Germany, Switzerland and China.

The new partnership will support Elevator’s Dundee Accelerator programme, which runs from its Centre for Entrepreneurship - a unique partnership with the University of Dundee. The Centre reinforces Elevator’s commitment to discovering, developing and supporting the Tay Cities region’s next generation of entrepreneurs who have design-led, innovative business ideas and aspirations.

As a result of the agreement, Maucher Jenkins will deliver several exclusive workshops and surgeries for Elevator’s accelerator participants – known as founders. Topics will include IP rights, the importance of IP as an asset and the need to align with the commercial objectives of a business. In addition, Maucher Jenkins will offer one-to-one meetings with each founder and provide individual follow up advice once they have completed the programme.

With a strong international foothold, the collaboration gives Elevator and its founders access to IP litigators who have set the pace for science, technology and innovative product design. While providing Maucher Jenkins access to academics, entrepreneurs and the start-up companies to support its growth strategy.

Andy Campbell, Commercial Director at Elevator, said: “Maucher Jenkins has a first-class reputation, and I am delighted to have them onboard as a new sponsor. The agreement will help us to continue growing and advancing our Dundee Accelerator offering to complement the needs of our next pipeline of entrepreneurs.”

Dr Fiona Kellas, Partner at Maucher Jenkins said: “At Maucher Jenkins, we understand the importance of providing good IP advice to companies to assist in the development and commercialisation of their products. In particular, we have experience of advising start-up companies and entrepreneurs as they start their innovation journeys.

“We are looking forward to getting involved with the Elevator programmes during 2020 and our office location in Scotland means that we will be on hand to assist with the IP needs of the Elevator’s founders.”
